——The Sixteenth Academic Report of the 2018 Academic Seminar on Earth Science
In order to broaden academic horizons and stimulate innovation enthusiasm, at the invitation of Professor Xu Jia, School of Earth Sciences and Engineering, at 10 am on May 30, 2018, Associate Professor Li Xi of Wuhan University made a lecture entitled “Nightlight Remote Sensing Data Mining” for teachers and students of our school. Thematic report. Mr. Li Xi, “Young Scholars of Wuhan University”, “Remote Sensing Youth Science and Technology Talents” of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Wuhan Outstanding Young Scientists and Technicians. The long-term research results of remote sensing applications, remote sensing image processing, and spatial data mining research were cited by more than 600 domestic and foreign media such as CNN, BBC, CCTV, and the New York Times, as well as the UN Security Council. He has presided over the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Fund Project, and the national key R&D program, and has published more than 30 academic papers. He is a reviewer of more than 10 international journals such as Remote Sensing of Environment and is a member of the International Journal of Remote Sensing Editorial Board.
Professor Li Xi first vividly explained to the audience what luminous nightlight remote sensing is and what information luminous nighttime remote sensing data can provide. We can use luminous nightlight remote sensing to do what; then briefly introduce the main work of the team led by him; finally we look forward to the development of luminous remote sensing. The trend, and seriously answered everyone's questions. Through the report, the participating students had a deeper understanding of Nightlight Remote Sensing and understood that the luminous remote sensing is not only applied to the estimation of socio-economic parameters, urbanization, and regional development assessment, but also in light pollution analysis, Syrian civil war, and fishery detection. And other hot issues play an important role.
Teacher Li's wonderful report won applause and the participants carefully listened to and recorded. They all expressed that this report has benefited everyone.
